There are many factors that impact our skin daily, some of which we can control, others we can’t. The cold weather can be extremely damaging and hot weather can cause dry, chapped and burnt skin.
Stress can lead to dehydration and irritation of the skin, so can what you eat.
There’s no doubt about it, having good skin makes you feel beautiful and it’s sometimes the first thing we notice about people when we meet them. A simple hand shake will reveal their skincare routine secrets.
When founder Zeze Oriaikhi-Sao first started her adventure in South Africa, long before the birth of Malée, she landed in the continent with her beauty case packed but little did she know that these wouldn’t be much help at all. The extreme weather conditions left her skin feeling dry and aged. She searched high and low for a remedy that would fix her skin concerns and quickly learnt that the best remedies where those that came handed down through generations by the locals that she met on her journey. This inspired her to create products that are ‘good enough to eat’, that way she could guarantee that they were good enough to put on her skin.
She tells us that she felt very aware of the condition of her skin and that made her feel very self-conscious.
Zeze’s top tips for feeling fabulous in her skin:
1. I always add a few drops of our moisturising oil to my bath. This bumps up the hydration levels and leaves skin glowing.
2. The time spent exfoliating at least once a month helps boost circulation. Our Conditioning Body Scrub does the work, so all you need is light circular motions. In contact with water, it turns into a moisture milk so no weird petro chemical beads lurking at the base of your bath to dig into your skin while you try to drift into indulgent me time.
3. Moisturise daily, our Conditioning Body Cream is non-greasy, absorbs quickly and a real dream to apply. Up the ante in dryer climates and give yourself the extra 10 mins on the weekend massaging in your favourite oil and/or moisturiser. Even turn it into a treatment for dryer areas. See how here.
4. They say you can tell a woman’s age and where she has been by her hands. Our Nourishing hand cream is a great beside table, desk and handbag companion. Squeeze a pea-sized amount onto the palms of your hands and rub together to warm and spread it evenly all over hands. Pay attention to dryer areas such as knuckles, cuticles and nails and massage our nourishing hand cream over those areas. Repeat as often as required. To turn your hand cream into a treatment, use the steps above, follow with a pair bamboo gloves before bed and sleep your way to silky soft hands.
Caring for your skin may not make your dreams come true but it will help you put your best foot forward with every step.
